Intended as a "tool box" test instrument rather than a precision meter, the ELM-1 is designed to assist commissioning or fault-finding on 100V-line speaker installations. This instrument measures the impedance of 100V speaker lines at 1kHz, the resulting measurement is then converted into watts (RMS) and displayed as the power dissipated in the load being measured. No need to carry out messy calculations when matching loads to the outputs of their associated amplifiers.
